1 Way you can make extra money. Let me preface this. I live in Ohio. In Ohio if you have government insurance through “Job and Family Services,” or if you have a loved one on a Medicaid Waver, you can do this money making “hack.” If you don’t, check with your insurance companies, seeing if they have programs like this as well. (Speak insurance language, such as “grievance reimbursement or special needs account).
For me, I made about $90.00 in May (and the month is not close to being over yet) with this program. Another caveat to be aware of is this does take a lot of preparation, including: planning, thinking ahead, organization, and paperwork. Let me explain.
The way I made about $90.00 and plan to keep making about that much monthly, is by turning in gas reimbursement forms. In Ohio, if you have government insurance or have someone in your household on a waiver, you can be reimbursed $.45 a mile.
That doesn’t sound like much. Listen. I had seven appointments.(actually several more, but I couldn’t get the ducks in order in time). Most of our appointments were thirty miles round trip (I did not schedule these far away on purpose. I’m not THAT much of an evil genius). Thus, quickly the miles add up.
This 1 way to make extra money is not without struggle. I have to remember several things:
Both sets of rules and guidelines can be found on different websites. Good luck finding if your state has similar programs.
Even though, insurance reps, county workers, and support groups mentioned this reimbursement, it never resonated with me. Once a friend who works for one of our family’s insurance company’s began riding me to turn my forms in, I finally did. She kept telling me, “Jenn, it is free money.”
If it weren’t for her, I’m not sure I would be doing the program at this time. It was quite a surprise I can make almost a hundred extra dollars a month easily by exerting this little bit of extra effort.
I urge you to google your state with the words gas reimbursement program and whatever insurance you have. See if a similar program applies to you, especially if you have loved ones on Medicaid Waivers like I do.
Suddenly, far away appointments (fifteen miles or so) aren’t as much of a drag. I know we will benefit slightly from the appointment. The extra money can help keep gas in my van.
Go see if there is a program. Call your county representatives if you need to. I don’t know a special needs family who couldn’t use some extra cash. The money is there. Programs have been made for us. We might as well take advantage.
If you have found other such programs, please share in the comments below. Thank you for stopping by today. Please come back again soon! Blessings to you and yours today and always,
